Big Bass Bonanza

Big Bass Bonanza is one of those games that asks almost nothing of you and still ends up being oddly hard to put down. The setup is simple: you're out on the water, lines drop, and the little reeling loop plays out with cheerful sound effects and a bright, cartoonish lake. It leans hard into a calm holiday feeling, and honestly that mood is the point.

Controls are all one thumb. Everything happens with taps and the occasional swipe, so it works fine when you're only half paying attention on a bus. The animation of a fish coming up is short but well timed, and the game keeps the pace brisk enough that you never sit staring at a blank screen. We appreciated that it doesn't drown you in menus.

It's not a deep game and it doesn't pretend to be. What we liked was how clean the whole thing feels — no clutter, no confusing systems, just a light rhythm you can pick up in seconds and drop just as easily. As a between-things game it does its job well.
